WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE RIOTS?

What is the significance of this event on the Civil Rights Movement? (4-5 sentences) (8 pts)

This event wasn't a great event for blacks because they really displayed themselves in a brutal and violent way. This was a turning point on how people thought of blacks. If white people didn't like blacks before, they really didnt like them now(Detroit Riot of 1967) in greater depth; and if people favored the blacks and wanted to get them their rights, they thought more about what they were working for with the black people.

DID THIS HELP OR HURT THE MOVEMENT? EXPLAIN.

On a scale of 1 (low) to 10 (high) how great of an impact do you think this event had on the Civil Rights Movement? (Explain your reasoning in 4-5 sentences) (8 pts)

I rate this a 7 because this really makes people think about what they are about to do. This was probablly a major step back for African Americans in the Civil Rights Movemnet. But then again, this event made people see that African Americans need the rights, they need their space in order not to act up. I rate this a 7 because I think this was a major step back and a couple of inches forward to freedom for African Americans.
